Receiving Donations

The likelihood is that you may be on a waiting list for up to two years before we will be in a position to offer you treatment. During this time the Unit will carry out some preliminary tests to establish your blood group and CMV status. CMV is a virus that many of us have had which gives symptoms similar to flu. For matching purposes we need to find out if you have ever had the virus.

Before we can confirm your place on the egg recipient waiting list you MUST attend the IVF Unit for an appointment with the Recipient Coordinator. She will arrange a counselling appointment for you and also for your initial investigations. We will write to you on a yearly basis to keep you updated as to your progress on the waiting list.

Once you have reached the top of the waiting list a nurse will contact you when a donor is available.
